Church Encouraged in Prattville, AL
More than just sowing seeds, we saw the Lord really encourage and spark this church with life. Prattville is located in southern Alabama about 10 miles north of Mongomery. It is becoming a suburb of Montgomery. It is a really growing community.
I continued to preach on the theme of "the Kingdom of God is at hand!" We prayed for lots of people, and we also prayed over people as a form of "commissioning" them for the greater work of ushering in the Kingdom of God.
After preaching on Monday, a woman came with her two grandchildren. One had periodic seizures. She asked me to bless them, which was a great honor. Also, we prayed that the one young man would have no more seizures.
One special prayer time was for a woman who was starting to go blind. She said her eyes were "fogging" over. The doctors couldn't explain it. She also struggled with emotional disturbances, and a finger on one hand had wilted. She was scared because the same finger on the other side was begining to do the same thing. No doctor could help her, though she had been to many.
We prayed for her two nights in a row. After the second time of praying for her, he eyes brightened, which is a big deal since she struggles with major depression. She still has a battle before her, but we believe some significant spiritual things were accomplished in that prayer time.
We have studied the ministry of Jesus a lot lately, and we are seeing that Jesus did not just preach to people. He was right there in their lives, praying for them and helping them. Thus, we make it a point to bridge the gap between the puplit and the pew. No ivory towers for us. Just the feel of someone else's shoes on our feet.
