Crisis Chaplains - GA Flood
No one ever expected it to happen. We've lived in the Atlanta metro area for 20+ years, and we've never seen rain like this! Hundreds of homes flooded. Millions of dollars worth of damage. Hundreds stranded homeless.
By God's grace, our home was not affected, because we were deployed as crisis chaplains with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (RRT) from Sept 30 - Oct 5.
One person in particular that we ministered to lost her two dogs by drowning (her cat was found floating on a piece of furniture), and all her possessions. They had only lived in the house for a couple months when the flood hit. And they had spent all their money to move in. Our job was easy that day, because she and her husband had great faith in the Lord.
Another person we ministered to had minor flood damage comparatively. However, we learned that her son (24 yrs old) had been in and out of jail, on drugs, just lost his father 6 months ago, and was severely troubled. On top of all that, he was resistant to the Gospel and to talk with us. Talk about a tough case!
In all, we prayed for around 80 people, shared the Gospel around 20 times, and through the efforts of all the chaplains and Samaritan's Purse workers, 5 people gave their lives to Christ! (Click Album View to see pictures.)
